Enjoy the Ocean

Life’s a Beach!

Ventura County, California has three beach parks for your enjoyment, Faria Beach, Hobson Beach, and Rincon ParkwayFaria Beach Park has a beautiful sandy shoreline with 42 oceanside campground sites for tents or campers.  These sites are equipped with firepits, flush toilets, hot showers, and a concession stand.  Fifteen additional sites have full hookups with electricity, sewer, water, and cable TV. Among the activities enjoyed here are surf fishing, surfing, horseshoes, and the beach has a playground.

Hobson Beach has fewer camping sites in the campground, only 31 sites for tents and campers, but offers a gorgeous sandy shoreline, firepits for barbecuing, hot showers and flush toilets, as well as a concession stand.  There are another 10 sites that offer full hookup of water, sewer, electric and cable TV services.  The activities here also include surfing and surf fishing.  However, it does not have the playground or horseshoe pit found at Faria.

Rincon Parkway is a very popular Oceanside campground, but this campground is for self-contained RV camping only.  There are no facilities, amenities or lifeguard services offered, and surfing or surf fishing are the only activities on this beach.  However it’s situated along the scenic Pacific Coast Highway and has breath-taking sunsets.  Space in this Parkway is on a first come, first serve basis.

You're Close to the Beaches at Malibu

If you would prefer, you can enjoy the beaches at Malibu!  That’s right.  The beaches at Malibu in Los Angeles County are approximately a half hour away from Newbury Park, Oak Park, Thousand Oaks, and Westlake Village.  With 21 miles of shoreline, Malibu beaches offer many beautiful beaches, some private beaches with public access ways, and some public beaches.

Among some of the more popular public beaches are the Topanga State Beach and Nicholas State Beach, both located on the Pacific Coast Highway.  They offer swimming, surfing, fishing, picnicking, restrooms, and showers.   Lifeguards are on duty during daylight hours.  No pets or alcohol are allowed on these beaches.

Malibu Pier is an icon in Southern California.  This historic landmark is the heart of  California’s “surf culture”.  Sport fishing trips, restaurants, harbor tours, and the Surf Museum (opening in 2008) are some of the things to attractions at the Pier.

Adjacent to this famous pier is Surfrider Beach which draws surfers from around the world to ride some of the famous three-point break waves that offer rides of 300 yards and sometimes more. This beach offers lifeguards during daylight hours, and restrooms, showers, swimming, surfing, fishing, and concessions, but it also has volleyball courts. Marine animals might be seen along the beach, but visitors are warned to not disturb or feed any of the animals. As with the other beaches, no pets or alcohol is allowed.

Dude, surf's up!
